“Dreams in Maíz”

An Immersive Surrealist Dining Experience with Chef Julio Hernandez & Chef Crystal De Luna-Bogan

Enter a world where food becomes illusion, memory transforms into flavor, and art escapes the gallery walls.

For one night only, Chef Julio Hernandez of Maiz de la Vida and Chef Crystal De Luna-Bogan of Cafe Cheeserie unite for an immersive surrealist dining experience at the Frist Art Museum.

Inspired by surrealism, Mexican culinary traditions, and the transformative power of maíz, this one-night-only tasting menu will explore unexpected textures, smoke, nostalgia, illusion, color, and sensory play through a series of imaginative courses designed to surprise and delight.

Blending the bold creativity of both chefs with deeply rooted flavors and contemporary technique, the evening will move beyond dinner into edible storytelling — where familiar ingredients appear in unexpected forms and every course invites guests to question what they’re tasting, seeing, and feeling.

Guests can expect a multi-course tasting menu filled with artistic presentation, immersive moments, and playful interpretations of Mexican flavors and ingredients.
