Opening Weekend Was a Great Success!
We were delighted to have Mayor Megan Barry stop by
After months of hard work, a few construction delays, and mounting anticipation, The Grilled Cheeserie Melt Shop officially opened its doors on Friday, January 6th and it couldn't have been in a more serendipitous way. As the people of Nashville awoke to a blanket of white snow and kids all across the city were thrilled to find school canceled for the day, our Grilled Cheeserie staff sprung out of bed for a different reason - the excitement of opening day!
Weather has always been a bit of an obstacle for the Grilled Cheeserie Truck to navigate over the past 6 years, so it seemed only fitting that the Melt Shop would be welcomed by weather: a Nashville-style snow storm.
Fortunately, the fine folks of Nashville were eager to escape the cold and warm up here at our cozy Melt Shop. And what better way to warm up with the ultimate comfort food combo of Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup? With kids out of school, the Melt Shop was bustling with customers, eager for a treat to warm them up...and even treats that wouldn't.
Despite the frigid temps, the Milkshake Bar got a pretty big workout on our first day. Most popular by far was our Double Dutch Shake, which appropriately incorporates the Jackalope Snowman Stout into the mix, as well as our current Milkshake of the Moment, the Frozen Mexican Hot Chocolate.
For the record, the humor in both of these creamy treats being served on such a frosty, winter day is not lost on us.
On the savory side of things, we were delighted that our guests (both Grilled Cheeserie Food Truck fans and Grilled Cheeserie novices alike) dove head first into our new menu items while simultaneously showering love on our long-time favorite items.
The new Spinach Artichoke Melt was a huge hit and our Creamy Old Fashioned Tomato Soup seemed like just the ticket to warm up chilly bellies before heading back out into the cold. Our Sweet Potato Chips served with Noble Springs whipped goat cheese proved to be a popular share-item, but nothing could hold a candle to the excitement and glee expressed from our Cheesy Tots: the same tater tots you know and love, covered with a creamy, yellow, cheesy cheese sauce...made with real, actual cheese.
We served in the neighborhood of 2,500 people in that first weekend, and although it now seems like somewhat of a blur, it was a blast serving all 2,500 of them! Highlights include Mayor Megan Barry stopping by to wish us good luck, and owner of the former Sunset Grill, Randy Rayburn, giving our new digs his stamp of approval. We feel so lucky to consistently feel so much support and love from our Nashville community.
A week after opening, things at the Melt Shop are only getting better. As we continue to get used to our kitchen, get more comfortable with the menu, and consistently improve our service to be more efficient, we hope the Grilled Cheeserie Melt Shop will become even busier and even better.
If you haven't yet made it over to the *new* Grilled Cheeserie Melt Shop in Hillsboro Village, we can't wait to see you. And if you have, thank you for your support!
